Let’s Stick Together: Share to Become 1 of “My Top 5 Socially Smart Indie Musicians”

Let’s face it. Nothing is easy, especially trying to promote original music in a world of shrinking budgets, a stagnant live music scene and the proliferation of free online music sources. If you are trying to make music, record it and get people to listen, it’s clear you have to work a whole bunch of channels (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, etc…) to make anything happen.

I am in the same boat with my band, Trace Relations ™ and our debut CD release. If you are an independent artist or band, I have a proposition for you that I think is a win-win.
If this sounds good to you, join in. If not, that’s cool too, thanks for dropping by. I hope you’ll take a moment to listen to some Trace Relations ™ music, and tell me what you think of the project.

    Hey, Tracy,

I know how scarey and exciting it can be to put tunes out for the whole world to hear — both on the web and on CD. I can only imagine that some of these responses are part of what’s happening for you (Trace Relations) right now. Best wishes!

And, by the way, what a great band you have, Tracy. Every one of the members brings an awesome addition to the bluesy, Southern sound that makes your band “work”. I’m especially listening to the inspired fingers of Sparky on the keys. Nice!

#3. Too late. I “liked” your band months ago on Facebook.

#2. OK. I’ll spread the word.

#1. My music defies a lot of typical labels (and I don’t mean corporate ones). I’m an improviser. And that means I never know exactly what will come out of my voice and fingers. I do standard classical, rock/pop, and folk tunes. Those you can hear on my web sites (start at http://muz4now.com). But my improv pieces and songs are rarely captured in recordings. I’ve started using live-looping and this has allowed me to capture a few of them, but many remain only in the auditory memory of the people who witnessed them.

For me, this Summer seems to be focused on wedding and drum circle gigs, but I look forward to Autumn when I plan to get back to my studio and do some recording.

    Musical blessings,
    Stan

  2. Tracy Ready says:

Stan, Thanks for commenting — exciting and scary -yes to both!
Love the improv stuff and the beauty and immediacy that comes with it. Maybe one day I will get to witness this from your fingers to my ears in person… I’d really like that. Thanks for helping us spread this article, and for being comment #1!
    Best, Trace

  3. Great post Trace! I was so tempted to post “What Stan said :O) My thoughts so echo his…
I LOVE your music and video. So glad you are putting it out there!

  4. Mike Vavrek says:

    Hey Tracy-
First of all, thanks for the opportunity!
Ive enjoyed listening to your music, and would LOVE to hear your live!
Over the past few year and a half I’ve been putting music online, asking for critiques, and just sharing some songs. I don’t have a band(yet!) nor can i read music. I learned by listening to recordings and finding the notes. Apart from drums(few lessons) this is how i learned to play all the instruments i can play. Truly amazing things started to happen as a result. I’m not very confident by nature, nor am i into playing/recording things perfectly. I’ve always been an improv based player, my major influences are Jane’s Addiction and 70’s era Grateful Dead. One day i got an email from an idol of mine(long story!) and he gave me a tremendous compliment- so i started taking chances. Next thing i knew, i was blessed with a few offers from indie labels! Blown away, and humbled! I wanted SOO bad to share my good fortune i asked a few friends to write a tune with me! Shortly upon completing the lyrics, we found out that 3 unbelievable musicians offered to play on the song! This will be the title track of my debut nationwide release “Reflections(buttons and threads)”.
It was these men’s kindness that my friend Heidi and myself created Reflections Foundation- a place where aspiring artists come together with artists of acclaim to create art. The purpose: to provide funding for arts programs in schools and various other vital services in need. But, most importantly: it will hopefully offer encouragement to aspiring artists who just need some encouragement, someone to believe in them. Someone did it for me(i still don’t have a band! Lol) i simply want to pay it forward. What good is having if you can’t/don’t share? I’m not the best at what i do, heck, i dont really know what I’m doing. I honestly just want to show other aspiring artists that it can be done!
#2 u can net I’ll visit your sites and spread the word.
#3: Reflections Foundation will officially launch this fall along with my humble musical offerings. We are currently taking submissions for our Global Song in the “New Fabric Of Sound” forum at my website until the foundation’s website is build/launched. All you need is an open mind, kindness and willingness to lend a hand. This is about (::)TOGETHER(::) and the power of peace!

Tracy: thank you VERY much for this opportunity! I love your music, i love your inclusion-team. It has truly been an honor to have come across you and your music. I am humbled and grateful. (::)buttons and threads(::)

  5. Shannon – LOL ;-)

Mike – where can I learn more about Reflections Foundation? I took a quick look at your site, but didn’t see a link for it or the submissions. Of course, I’m going blind in my old age. ;-)

Trace – you rock for bringing us all together, man. Thank you.

    Playful blessings,
    Stan

I like you, I really like you! I could have sworn I commented here already but sometimes the Internet is cruel.

Since I still have this absurd belief that my comment is still floating around somewhere, I will be brief. My band, The Snake Charmers, is a blues/blues rock band from Houston, Texas. We released an all-original album 2 years ago, Been Gone Too Long, and are working on our next right now.

Everything you need to know and more is on our website as well as much of our music.

Cheers, Trace, and I’ll see you in the Interwebs!

  8. Tracy Ready says:

Hi Marie! Thanks for your comment and great interaction here and on Twitter. You’ve got the voice and the feel, love your music. All the best, Trace
