Why “Reruns” are GOOD: Quotes, Photos and Video Rule Social Media

People tell me they are not active on Facebook or Twitter because they “don’t have anything to say”.

They’re getting too hung up on always having NEW and original content. No one is truly original or makes “earth shattering” statements very often.

Remembering Texas Musician Extraordinaire: Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown

Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown was born April 18, 1924 in Vinton, Louisiana and died September 10, 2005 in Orange, Texas. While known primarily as a “bluesman”, he hated such titles. He was a master musician who defied being pigeonholed in any genre. His live shows ranged the gamut of American music. Jazz, rock, blues, cajun and bluegrass came soaring out of this man, who kept grinning through it all.

“I play American and World music, Texas style.”

How to “Socialize” Your Youtube Videos: Testing Inbound Now

Inbound Now has created an impressive tool that takes your Youtube videos and wraps them with subscription and sharing buttons for all the “biggies” of Social Media: Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google+, Pinterest and Buffer.

In my stumbles across the web, I am always on the lookout for tips and tools that may be helpful to freelancers in music and media (like myself) and other self-employed individuals. Today I found a very impressive site, seemingly loaded with useful tools called Inbound Now. This post is my first experiment using Inbound Now’s Social Media Optimized Youtube Player. I have no affiliation with Inbound Now, my thoughts here are my own.

Reviewing: InboundNow.com

First Impression: Very Cool. Easy to use. After about 15 minutes of experimentation, I was able to create Youtube players for this post, using two of our music videos from Trace Relations debut CD Release “Prosperity Street”.

Inbound Now: Socializing YouTube

Check these out, play the videos and give the buttons a test spin, if you please. Subscribe and share, much appreciated! Plus, I want to know how these players are actually performing beyond my own desktop. Please comment below. Thanks!

5 Low Cost Ways To Support Your Musician, Artist and Filmmaker Friends

Your neighbor plays in a local band, and they’ve just released an indie produced CD. You know about it, but never heard him play. But you do see him lugging his gear in and out to gigs from his house. You also see him in the mornings, dressed for business, driving off with a friendly wave as you take out the trash. You’ve never thought much about it, but chances are, your neighbor is a passionate musician, with a fair amount of talent, who is trying hard to keep bread on the table for his family while pursuing his artistic side. The world is full of stories such as this, and most of us have friend like this neighbor, or a family member who is an artist, musician, filmmaker or has related creative pursuits.

Just show up!

Show them you care, its easy and often FREE.
Its tough for indie artists of any variety to make an impact and pay the bills, while pursuing their craft. Social Media for artists and entrepreneurs is a two edged sword.

On one hand, there are more free or low cost ways than ever before to attract new fans, or attention for a project (Facebook, Twitter, Indiegogo, Kickstarter, etc.) The flip side to that is that millions of others have the same opportunities. We are ALL experiencing “information overload”.
What can one person with limited finances do to help his or her indie artist friends? A Lot. Read ON>>> Read more…
