The allure of a Texas river… Photography

Ideas, like large rivers, never have just one source.- Willy Ley
I have always been drawn to rivers. Near them, I can be alone with my thoughts and yet still connected with the rest of the planet. It’s all tied to my youth, and much time spent splashing around in streams, skipping stones and camping with my family, most often near some stretch of serene river.

The feeling of being connected and yet all alone is still with me today, and rivers have become one of my favorite photographic challenges as well.

I have spent much of the last 25 years bouncing back and forth between Dallas and San Antonio, Texas, personally, professionally and musically. In my travels I try to avoid the mind numbing Interstate experience in favor of Texas Highway 281 and the towns and scenes along that path. Recently I took these shots of the Pedernales and Blanco rivers in the Texas Hill Country, compiling a collection of images for a video to the song The Flood by Trace Relations.

What’s this? New Site for Trace Productions: Will you “kick the tires”?

As a self-employed, sole proprietor business owner, your website is your BRAND, your public face to the world.
Designing a site, or updating (in my case) is an important undertaking and one that I have found to be daunting. I kept looking at the primary site for my production business, Trace Productions, feeling embarrassed that much of the content had not been updated in 10 years or more. In that time, I have added new skills and services (media consultation, social media management) to my client offerings.

Stoked about the new site!

New Facebook Group Connects Creative Freelancers

It’s a social media “no-no” to post links to your work on other people’s Facebook pages. So I have created a Facebook group with sharing our creative work with others as it’s primary purpose. CLICK HERE:
Freelance Media on Facebook, Twitter and Youtube

Writers, producers, photographers, filmmakers, web designers, graphic artists, musicians, and related careers: You’re invited!

Post links to your work in this group, where freelancers and self employed stick together. I only ask that you don’t post links to the group more than twice a day, so no one is dominating the feed. No political ranting, no silly photos and sayings, just links to your profiles, youtube videos, websites, etc. Professionals only, please. Thanks, Trace ~ The Social Freelancer ™

Why “Reruns” are GOOD: Quotes, Photos and Video Rule Social Media

People tell me they are not active on Facebook or Twitter because they “don’t have anything to say”.

They’re getting too hung up on always having NEW and original content. No one is truly original or makes “earth shattering” statements very often.

Why What’s Old is New with Social Media Read more…
